IT'S HERE!

MANIFESTING DESTINY, first book in the Changers series, released today! www.amazon.com/dp/B0FP9PRQ2G

I don't read extreme gore/horror and I don't read erotica. The former because I don't like having that stuff in my head, the second because I love plot and character, and erotica is really just focusing on spice/sex. (I don't mind *sex* in a book, so long as plot & character come first)

I haven't bothered to replace my e-reader. When I'm looking for something to read, I'm always looking for a physical book. Hardback or paperback. I like to browse at bookstores and libraries, and e-readers require you to already know what you're looking for to a degree.

Comfort shows for me include "Parks & Rec," "Cardcaptor Sakura," and "Babylon 5," and sometimes particular favorite episodes of "Highlander" or "The X-Files."

There are a number towns along the AElitian coast, two of note being Belafleo Kantrina and Bargacharna. D'robe's notable coastal cities include Tiyafarg and Belafleo D'begga.

Ack! I read such a wide variety of things, so narrowing to one would be almost impossible. But the first genre that sprang to mind was mystery, so maybe that? After all, mystery can encompass other genres. Historical mystery, romantic mystery...

I find a lot of inspiration in music. Songs can often give me the right feelings to tap into for my characters and what they're going through.

Being an island, AElit certainly does have a fishing industry of sorts along the coasts, though it is a stronger element in D'robe, where the land is less forgiving for livestock or crops.

I used to always recommend THE SUPERNATURAL ENHANCEMENTS by Edgar Cantero but someone found it problematic, and I haven't gone back to re-read it and see for myself, so I hesitate to recommend it anymore. Anyway, no one book is for everyone, so I tailor my recs to whoever asks.

#FantasyIndiesNovember Day 19

Actually sitting down and putting words on a page is my big challenge. Focus. Discipline. I can dream up the stories, the scenes, etc., but when it comes time to actually *write* I get fidgety and restless.

I don't have a favorite genre, so I'm just going to pick four authors whose works I've enjoyed and who had some influence on me.

Arthur Conan Doyle
Agatha Christie
Stephen King
Anne Rice

Could also consider: Victoria Holt, Alison Weir, or more recently Richard Osman

Robin Hood was a HERO. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor = GOALS.

I'm sorry if it looked like my Substack was asking for 💲. I assure you it is free and I have no current plans to monetize it. I think I've managed to turn off the pop-up that suggests you pay. I'm still learning. But please do consider subscribing! (For FREE!) mplbooks.substack.com

Amaurodios doesn't know what water is when he arrives on AElit, so when he first encounters a brook he asks it if "they could please speak one at a time" because he "can't understand what they're saying." 🙄😂

It's no secret; I usually put it on my YouTube channel! 😂 I didn't enjoy THE HURRICANE WARS, or BEACH READ, or THE GUNCLE. So many! Reviews are here: www.youtube.com/@mplbooks/vi...

I love both Fay and Landis from THE SWITCHGRASS CROWN. I love Amaurodios' sweet naivete in SEL & AM. Alfred Keenan in THE K-PRO. The titular Peter Stoller. And, of course, Julian in THE GHOSTS OF MARSHLEY PARK.

Pics from our final day at #KauaiWritersConference. I promise we did writerly things, too; they just don’t make for as interesting pictures. Heading home today.
