We support the people
of Zimbabwe by
providing them with
clean water and energy.
The hunt for water is over. In northern Zimbabwe, Mpilo Foundation restores pumps and creates reliable, nearby access to clean water. What once meant long, risky journeys is now found at the centre of the community—steady, shared, and no longer chased.

Recent visits to northern Zimbabwe show how communities like Chiedza thrive with new clean water. Nearly a year after their pump was installed, residents greeted us with song and gratitude. Moments like these reveal the quiet joy such support brings.

Yearly visits keep our work honest and effective. By returning to each community, we build trust, support local ownership, solve issues early, and ensure our wells and solar systems keep delivering lasting change. We don’t dig and dash—we stay and grow together.

WATER'S RIPPLE EFFECT 🌊🚀

Water is more than a necessity — it’s the quiet start of progress. Reliable access frees time, supports livelihoods, and helps ideas take shape.

Water doesn’t just sustain life — it sets it in motion.

Water can take life — but can also give it.
Each borehole we drill turns danger into dignity. 💧

Zimbabwe’s education system is collapsing: underpaid teachers, underfunded schools, and rural children—especially girls—locked out by poverty, child marriage, and lack of water. Clean water and solar power could turn classrooms into gateways to equality.

Clean water isn’t just survival—it’s education, health, and dignity. 💧 In Zimbabwe, girls sometimes daily have to walk kilometers for water. Together, we can ease their burden and give them time to learn, grow, and dream.

Every unmarked donation is a vote of confidence—and a lifeline for communities in crisis. Flexibility in funding means faster, more effective action.
Please consider leaving (part of) your donation 'unallocated' for swift actions in the field.

After a letter from the school head, stating concerns about the health of her hundreds of children, Hlanganani 2 primary school's well was rehabilitated by Mpilo Foundation within a week. We can only do this through the support of our donors. Thank you!

COLLECTION FOR MPILO ⛪🫶

Last week, the NGK congregation of the Petrakerk in Hardenberg devoted their quarterly collection to Mpilo Foundation. During the service, the importance of our work was highlighted by Evelien and Alex Gunnink.

We are very grateful to all people involved!

Thanks to their financing, Impazz Maintain allows us to help 4000 people in Silobela.

Python Village and St. Michael's primary school will soon be able to save time and hardship by having consistent access to clean water.

Zimbabwe's once top-ranking education system is increasingly facing severe shortcomings: high student dropout, a lack of teachers, who are underpaid and overworked. At this national scale, Mpilo Foundation can't do a lot. But we can aid local education by keeping students healthy. And you can help!

90,000+ HELPED 🫶

For many people clean water and clean energy are still a luxury, while we couldn't do without them. We want to make this a matter of course for others too.

During the 7 years of our operation, we have already helped over 90,000 people. Will you help us continue our mission?

BYE BYE TO DARKNESS!

Phumakanye Primary School received a solar installation, dramatically improving the life of the more than 250 students and their 12 teachers.

The light allows for studying at night, and keeps the wild animals (in this case especially elephants) away.

Happy International Day of Light!

Organized by UNESCO, this day celebrates the role of light in many fields, among which education, energy, and sustainable development.

Mpilo Foundation uses sunlight to give schools in Zimbabwe sustainable energy. More on that tomorrow :)

Ellen and I recently had been invited to talk about Mpilo Foundation in the local NGK church in Heemse, NL, where we had a GP practice for 25 years.
We briefly presented our cause.

Afterwards, as we all sat down for coffee, it became heartwarmingly clear that the people hadn't forgotten about us.

To fetch water, the women of Chimwara Village had to walk up to 6 km a day, risking being attacked by wild animals.

Supported by Wilde Ganzen, our partners and donors, this has changed: we installed a new water pump, much closer to their homes, which extracts around 6000 liters of water an hour.

KLIMAATRECHTVAARDIGHEID
