Just a guy who believes America is stronger when we respect diversity, including those I disagree with. Not easy, but that’s what we need to do. And I think we should leave a verdant Earth to later generations.
Are all the billionaires in the Epstein files, or just the ones who crawled into the Trump protection racket recently? We will never stop pushing for a complete release of the files. Trump underestimates the determination to get at the truth.

You know what Trump said about the Reiner murders. Asked about Kirk’s murder, Rob Reiner said, “That should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are — that’s not acceptable” He also openly admired Erika Kirk’s eulogy. Trump’s hate must be publicly rejected.

Watch out for Leonard Leo. Catholic reactionary with huge financial power devoted to extreme conservative causes

We now see the rise of a new rich royalty that controls our government and information systems. Common folks must vote. Set our inheritance tax at 90% for wealth over $50 million. Protect farmers and most business owners, but billionaires from having excessive political power for generations.

Religion can be complex, for sure. But something is off-track when some folks think being a Christian means fighting to preserve patterns of power and specific cultural concepts rather than caring for the unfortunate.

Hakeem Jeffries: Be more principled. Even if it protects a Democratic House seat, criticizing the bribery criminal case against Henry Cellar undermines legal/ethical principles. Trump pardoned Dem Cuellar hoping to flip him. We should oppose bidding wars for House members that protect corruption.

Rubio did very important work: making sure State Department writings are less clear to people with vision challenges. Maybe that will help him clarify why Trump pardons drug dealers like former Honduran president Hernandez and Baltimore drug kingpin Garnet Smith and kills people adrift in the ocean.

Time to get and do it again …

The Heritage Foundation, source of Project 2025 and support for Nick Fuentes and Tucker Carlson, demonstrates how the Right has descended into white Christian(?) nationalist Trumpism. Never agreed with HF, but it once presented a relatively rational factual conservative alternative vision. No more.

Farmers, like the billionaires, can count on Trump to pretend he cares just as much as he needs to for his own purposes. It’s the rest of America that pays the prices and taxes.
December 9, 2025 at 3:12 PM
And MAGA now thinks the Arab monarchies deserve more respect than European democracies …
December 5, 2025 at 4:54 PM
So Trump folks want to lecture Western Europe on civilization. Like how to hide Epstein evidence, how to kill people adrift in the sea, how to destroy nature, how to profit off politics and promote “pay to play”, how to reward aggression, and how to silence opposition? What self-righteous crap.

Phil Clay in the NY Times: Trumper videos of protester beatings, cruel immigrant seizures, and naval murders seek to make “this violence delightful”. This is the dehumanizing appeal of gladiatorial shows. Clay says, in face of this sensational madness, we must ask, “how do we guard our souls?”
December 5, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Trump called about half of America his enemies at Kirk’s funeral. Hegseth’s choice kill people posing absolutely no threat shows how individual life and international law mean nothing to Trump loyalists. Only the fear of losing popularity and political power matters. We must stay mobilized.

I know a bunch of 30-somethings in Portland, Oregon making the ultimate optimistic step: having kids. These are really nice, thoughtful people. Makes me personally optimistic about our country - keep up the fight for a future defined by justice, widespread prosperity, and verdant natural systems.

Meanwhile, here in Benton County, Oregon, our “Democratic” commissioners voted 2-1 to allow Phoenix-based Republic Services to expand the second-largest dump in the state even more. Here is an undoctored pic, it has a worthy label.

Trump supports Tucker Carlson’s support for Nick Fuentes, and gets a very pleasant “thank you, Mr. President” from the neo-Nazi, who dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Meanwhile Trump and the Right keep call universities anti-Semitic. George Orwell must be sitting next to Project 2025 on their desks.
November 17, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Tucker Carlson, the right-wing Trumper social media star, has friendly interviews with unabashed anti-Semite Nick Fuentes. This, and the some Young GOP communications, show where the GOP will go if not countered soon. Meanwhile Trump schmoozes with the billionaires. Similar things happened before ….
November 14, 2025 at 3:09 PM
Looking at who attends his grand parties and his disdain for hunger and health care issues, you have to wonder who Trump refers to when he declares, “America First.”

Ah, time to pull up this zucchini plant. It served us well, providing plenty of to our family, friends, chickens and goats.
Time to drink more coffee …

Scary quote: Marc Andreessen, “We believe that there is no material problem - whether created by nature or technology- that cannot be saved by more technology.”
From “Dispatches”, Damon Beres, The Atlantic.
Tech ultimately serves those who control it. Those folks want a different world than I.

I just woke up imagining the country has a functioning government and that House members are working hard in Congress to justify their pay and excellent benefits. Now I just wish I could go back to bed and sleep as well as our president does during a talk on how obesity affects sleep.

SCOTUS would demand instant relief for corporate interests while appeals take place. Poor people getting food, not so important
November 8, 2025 at 3:36 AM
Maybe Trump’s Great Gatsby party at the time of cutting food stamps (among other things) is creating a climate where redistricting is less important than turnout.
November 5, 2025 at 2:48 AM
So the names of some of the donors to Trump gilded ballroom may now be kept secret. Sure sign of corruption.
