Many outlets reported attempts to compromise the personal devices of Trump, Vance, and Harris during the campaign. So, even if the Signal protocol itself is not breached, the devices they used could be compromised.

Fair point. Although one could argue that the human factor is also a security factor. Nonetheless, the use of Signal in such context remains in breach of protocol, policy and law.

More than this, the use of Signal shows that the discussion was taking place on personal devices, not on government issued secured ones, and outside of the reach of federal record laws. Project 2025 recommends using Signal exactly for this.
