Besides my friend, I also saw people run stop signs, speed around someone (head on into my lane) in a school zone, and this parking job. Cars, man…

Beekeeping skeet: hive two has wax moths!! 😱🤢

We pulled off almost 40 lbs of honey, then immediately fucked their re-queening efforts and bizarrely checker-boarded their frames too late in the year 🫠

It means the colony is too weak to fight them off. As beekeepers, we may have taken the honey too late in the year (it was our first harvest!) and we also moved the frames around to encourage them to “draw” (build) honey comb. Drawing comb is for expansion, but these bees are in survival mode and likely won’t make the winter (we might salvage what we can next week). When the bees tried to replace their old ass queen, we got anxious they were gonna swarm (fly away) so we killed her competition by crushing the queen cells (we’re such n00bs we didn’t even save the royal jelly!!)

Policy and rules nerds, I seek your guidance: I got the following message from Hub in response to a “no right on red” bicycle exception. (See below.) Now, I’m no expert, but MY reading of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (11th edition) DOES include such signs 🧵
Email from Hub denying my request. Text reads “Thank you for your comment. A ‘No Turn on Red Except Bikes’ sign cannot be installed because it is not a standard sign or plaque recognized by the MUTCD. The MUTCD requires regulatory signs to use approved legends only, and exceptions by vehicle class are not included. Installing a nonstandard sign creates legal liability, undermines uniformity, and risks unenforceability if challenged in court. Tennessee law also treats bicycles as vehicles subject to the same traffic control devices, so granting them an exception by nonstandard signage would conflict with state statute and invite legal challenges as well as potentially increasing the risk of bicycle crashes at this intersection.” Table 9A-1, where the fourth row has a line item for except bicycles plaques Excerpt from the 11th edition of the MUTCD, showing an “except bicycles” sign (R3-7bP)

Pleased to announce that I got a truck to move from a two-way cycle track* with nothing more than my stankiest scowl and a bitchy flick of the wrist

*there were literally two (2) loading zone parking spots next to the bike lane, why are people like this????
