Don't think I've ever seen an American Woodcock before. Today I accidentally flushed 3 in under a minute and only had time for a couple of distant flight shots.
A small brown bird flies in the distance across a blue sky. Its face and chest are a lighter tan color, lit by the morning sun, and its wings and back a darker brown. Its beak is long for its size at about 1/3 of its body length. To the best of my knowledge it is an American Woodcock.

A small tree branch with many sub-branches rises from the bottom center of the photo to the upper middle. It has many small clumps of dried red leaves interspersed among the otherwise bare branches. In the top center area a large orb web stretches between two of the primary branches in both the upper right and lower left additional smaller orb spider webs stretch between smaller branches and dried leaves. Dew covers the spider webs which also cling randomly in single strands and tangled clumps between branches and around the leaves. The background is out of focus green and gray forest leaves with a few small highlights.

Fair attempt at aligning some cooperative birds with the waning moon. So much that I wish was technically better. (mistakes are how we learn)

Two sparrows (probably) perch on branches of a dead tree in front of the moon. A large branch curves up from the bottom left and splits into a broad Y shape. One sparrow perches in the middle of the "Y" which is about in the center of the distant moon. A smaller branch stands straight up from the lower right to just past the top of the moon. The second sparrow clings to the back of the upright branch tilting its head down to the left and slightly extending its wing upwards.
