We also don’t really know if it is a manufacturing defect or a design defect. Either way, definitely seems like a QA issue. I’m not implying the U.S. company should be off the hook. I appreciate your calm self-reflecting response. Very refreshing on social media.

Practically moving from birthright citizenship would require a clear transition date where thereafter the new system, such as jus sanguinis (by blood) is used. Trying to retroactively apply by blood citizenship to the founding would be a logistical nightmare as you are stating.

A federal employee (including an SGE) awarding a federal contract to themselves is exactly what a conflict of interest violation is under federal ethics laws. The criminal conflict of interest statute is 18 U.S. Code § 208 - Acts affecting a personal financial interest.
