Boo shrink-flation! This is the fantastic tostada from Studio Catering Co. at DCA, one of their Lunar New Year offerings. The portion was 1 if you used a Sip & Savor credit, or
2 if you bought it as an entree. Guess they’re running low this last weekend of the Festival, because the entree is now 1.

Pinewood Derby season. In our Cub Scout pack we encourage parents to build and race their own cars, and let their kids do the work on theirs (as it should be). Here’s my design for tomorrow’s race.

My requisite shout-out to Salt & Straw Ice Cream. January is their dairy-free flavors series, which means almost everything is made with coconut, my top allergen. Even so, I feel truly safe eating here because they take SUCH CARE scooping for people with allergies.

All season I’ve wondered what the Starbucks Cran Merry Orange refresher would taste like as a hot drink, and today I finally found a store that had the ingredients and was willing to make it for me. Oh. My. Heck. It’s even better than I hoped. 12/10, would add to menu.

One of these games I want to see the refs take the ice for their warm up and just shock everyone with an axel or a toe loop. Maybe a little sit spin. Just something to mix things up.

I’m going to miss the Red Car Trolleys at DCA. I lead my Cub Scouts on a hike from Fullerton to La Habra along the very route the trains used to run. For most, DCA is the only time they’ve ever seen a red car.

Possibly the earliest we’ve had a tree up. Between Christmas and Hanukkah I get a whole month+ of lights this year.
