Sure, it's true that "we keep each other safe," but fucking part of that is supposed to be elevating sympathetic politicians, so that we can actually do things like mandate insurance coverage and criminalize discrimination, so that we're actually pushing forward and not constantly triaging.

I will never forget a former middle-aged white woman coworker who claimed to be progressive ideologically but, every chance she had to vote for a Black woman, told me, “I’m not sure, there’s just something about her I can’t quite trust.”
