And guess what? This obsession literally left Earth! The ISSpresso machine brought proper Italian espresso to astronauts in space - because even in zero gravity, coffee culture is essential!

Just like Synesso’s founder Mark Barnett (who started building in his garage!), espresso history is packed with passionate engineers who refused to settle. From vintage steam-powered contraptions to today’s precision tech, the quest for the perfect shot never stops.

These early brass beauties only hit about 2 bars of pressure, while our Synesso crushes it at 9 bars - the perfect pressure first achieved by Gaggia’s lever machines in the 1940s, creating that luscious crema we all crave.

The espresso journey kicked off in the 1880s when innovators first used steam to slash brewing time from five whole minutes to just seconds. Check out this gorgeous vintage Pavoni “Ideale” that introduced the world to “caffè espresso” in 1906 - total steampunk vibes!
