In the Adirondacks of New York, I’m on a hike with my mother. We see other 4 people on the trail. One of them is also wearing a Mountain Heather hat! 🥰

Little rectangle scraps made into trim, combined with a Marcia Derse black and white fabric. I’ve been dreaming of combining the two for years. Plus, bonus “LOVE” patch I found on my walk in town! Love feeling inspired. 🥰

Found this patch on a walk in town today. Added it to the latest garment I made for myself.

That’s a lot of red! Another 10 fleece hats. I needed to come up with something for a hat exchange, so I decided to see what else I could come up with the scraps of fleece that I have left along with the large piece of Cherry fleece. Soon, I really won’t be able to make any more fleece hats.

Thank you, Alaska Magazine, for the nice write up.

Headbands were one of the styles that I thought I wouldn’t be able to recreate in wool because of the itchiness factor of wool. One evening I had a sudden burst of inspiration on how I could incorporate a non-itchy, wool blend sweater material as the lining of a Headband and…voila! Wool Headband 😊

BEFORE and AFTER:
What if I revamped an old Original, put a new cotton band on old fleece base? That’s what I did! I won’t offer the gray and green method, but the orange and navy hat came out well enough to offer it as a service if you have an Original that you love but is getting pretty grungy.

It always makes me happy when people share pictures of themselves in their Mountain Heather hats out in the wild.

“In Soldotna last night the moon and me and your hat ❤️”

Thank you, Greta! 🥰

✨ONLINE STORE UPDATE✨

I put a selection of the new wool hats in the online store. These are all prototypes, but perfectly fine hats. I’m figuring out the specifics of each style I want to start “mass” producing. Ha! “Mass producing.” I kept track last year. I made 439 hats in 2024.

This week’s work, Wool Hats. I’m learning a lot: what a bigger top does, what a wider visor looks like, how different linings work, drawstrings vs buckles. So many variables; all nice hats.

Hi! 😊 Here I am in my newest hat style, a Wool Earflap Hat. One of my favorite features of this hat is the way the visor slopes down at the edges framing eye glasses perfectly.
