Love the Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, the northeast mountains, and many other beautiful natural areas. Love hiking, Contra & English Country Dancing. Also into birding, playing the piano, mathematics, science, meditation, and a liberal democracy.
Exactly what I've been saying for weeks. Republicans were never going to compromise on ACA credits so this ending of the shut-down was the mostly likely outcome. But, Dems did come out of it in a more favorable light, looking toward midterms.

It's really ironic that Trump and his cronies say networks can't criticize him, that they are so biased against him. Fox News has been doing that on the conservative side for decades, but Trump was perfectly fine with that.

Quote of the day from the Nature Briefing. I can relate to cathedral when I think of the Adirondacks!

“Wild nature is not a crop but a cathedral, and a single old-growth forest is a databank containing more info than any legions of supercomputers could hold.”

We are at another critical point in saving the Porcupine Mountains State Park from a mine. We need calls to the governor and state senators. Even if you don't live in Michigan, but call, especially if you've spent any time in the UP (Upper Penninsula). Thanks! protecttheporkies.com/take-action

Blood donation yesterday! I'm trying to get back to a regular schedule of donating like I used to. The nurse says I saved 3 lives today. I'm sure that is some statistic for how many pints are needed in the hospital per person, but the point is a good one!

Hike up to Mt Abe in Vermont on a rainy morning last Sunday. No views, but I still love the smells and the cloudy mystery on the peak! Afternoon hike on the trail partway up to Rocky Peak Ridge in the afternoon. I often do this trail in the Fall when the colors are beautiful here; still excellent!

It was a 40-year struggle — and a weird accident.
