For today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme, @robcrank68.bsky.social chose #Groups (groups of 4 or more birds & can be different species).

I give you the Sandhills cranes in Bosque del Apache, NM.

#BirdOfTheDay #HeronsandEgrets with the alternative being #birdsandrocks any bird with a rock in the frame. Let’s see what I have: a green heron surveying the inner bay in Grand Cayman … from a lava rock shore.

Today I’m not birding - or even taking the pictures. Instead, I’m catching the joy I can with one of the joys of my life. Hoping you all may find moments like this.

Lewis’s woodpeckers in abundance today, feasting on acorns.

Added this lifer to my list last week, but stopped by this morning and was rewarded by closer images. Lewis’s Woodpecker. #Photographersunited #wildlifephotography #birding #nikonphotography

A love letter to Alaska. I can't say enough about how beautiful the area was and how memorable our trip was. Alaska and Alaskans really showed up.

Homer, AK - just now. AK, you are A+.

Haven’t spent much time on social media lately, but I’ve been living my best life these past couple of weeks in Alaska. Bears at Katmai were special #PhotographersUnited #nikon #wildlifephotography

Middie at 20+ yo. Not much longer (his hips are giving way), but a little more time in a sunny window sill.

Something different, sort of -

Hot and windy few days in Death Valley in July (who doesn't do that?), specifically to go see the Wildrose Charcoal Kilns. They didn't disappoint. Open images to see pano in the first one. #PhotographersUnited #NikonPhotography #AstroPhotography

My poor camera gear. First, my card reader decided to give up the ghost, then someone broke into my car and stole my Z6ii and 150-600mm lens and wedding pics, and then I got shampoo all over my 400mm lens in the drive home. Here's a white-eyed swinhoe I managed to keep.

Spectacular weekend watching the sandhill crane migration. While there were hundreds of thousands of birds funneling through the Platte River, it's worthwhile to enjoy the beauty of the area and individuals too. #Birds #Nikonphotography #wildlifephotography #SandhillCranes #PhotographersUnited

Spring is springing. We had the extreme good fortune to witness not only the largest sandhill migration in NE, but also the annual prairie chicken “lek,” the mating ritual as old as time. Freezing mornings be damned, it was magical. #photographersunited #birds #wildlifephotography #nikonphotographer

I want to post my brown boobies (birds, ya filthy minds), but I’m going to wait for mama to move her baby farther from the top of the cliff where we saw them. Meantime, here are more pretty sea jewels. #photographersunited #wildlifephotography #om7-g

Burying my head in … the water this week. Taking my OM TG-7 out for a spin. Pretty fishies.
