It was time to stop. Truly. And with a glad heart.

Longish post copied across from elsewhere, hence the photo version.
20 images from my recent walk in #nepal to the North and South sides of #kangchenjunga in November. Sensational walking, brutal at times with the late October snowfall generated by Cyclone Montha. 1/5

Good interview with Helias Millerioux who is refreshingly uncircumspect about the downsides of commercial involvement in mountaineering.

With a pure alpinist's approach, failure is common, but it's important to set an example for both the public and future climbers, says Millerioux.

To avoid 2 nights at inhospitable #ramche, we went directly to the South side base camp of #octang from #tseram, and then reversed to Ramche for the night. Lots of snow beyond Ramche after the October cyclone. Sensational spot surrounded by 7 and 8,000m mountains.

A 10.5 hour day to reach Pang Pema (Kangchenjunga North Side base camp) owing to foolishly deep snow. Microspikes there and back. #nepal #kangchenjunga

Sometimes, just sometimes, the photography gods smile on the (amateur) person holding the camera.

I promise this was not staged. I just caught the guide on the rock on the spur of the (very cold) moment.

Battled our way to #taplejung by a short flight from Kathmandu then the first of two long jeep rides. Arrived long after dark.
