1. Breadbasket of many other countries. Most of whom are poor 3rd world countries that get ukrainian grain for cheap. Ukraine supplies 20% of global supply. This falling to russian hands means russia can have political leverage over many countries inducing political change in its favor.

Trump is blocking the removal of sanctions on syria because he wants to bully and extort the new syrian admin to hand over syria's natural resources. That means not a single country in the world would trade with syria and syria cannot use the global financial system
