Just wanted to add: if/when you do take a look at FreeCAD there is a YouTuber, Deltahedra, that has some great content to help learn it. Merry Christmas.

I know, but they're such opposites, I thought it worth mentioning.

Torvalds? Yes. The other guy, not so much.

I love that technique and use it frequently. Also the one to make round vertical holes.

Hope you can in the future.

FreeCad has gotten quite good. You should do a blog article on that.

Also, fyi, I get no notification that you replied. I had to go looking at your replies list under your profile and noticed there that you had replied to me.

That is a strange choice of license. GPLv3 is fundamentally a software license. As it's Prusa, this makes me suspicious.

For the bed it seems they finally moved away from the PCB. Here is what Prusa said: "AC convection heatbed with <2°C variance across 99% of the surface. Solid aluminum block, dual-loop heating, beautiful heat distribution. Kills warping and cold corners. Two underside fans warm the chamber fast."

Saw a YouTube video confirming your opinion on the laser feature. The printer was absolutely filled with soot after some lasering. I'm baffled at Bambu thinking on this.

From Tao's comments in the interview with Stefan, it seems whatever they have planned is possible with the servo, but not with a stepper. I would bet they will be successful - they have some very smart engineers (plus Tao, who is brilliant)

Honestly, I have hands on experience with these printers, so please don't waste your time repeating what you've read or watched on videos. Best wishes to you.

And the H2D doesn't so anything re: extrusion multiplier.
April 14, 2025 at 7:23 PM
H2D promises to do better with pressure advance (via sensing via that servo motor), but that feature is not there yet. So it's still using the optical method that the X1C is, and I've seen no reports from anyone that they've solves the issues with smaller nozzle sizes there.

And Prusa calibrates neither - they only do Z offset.
April 14, 2025 at 7:15 PM
No, you're wrong, but as you say you have never used these printers, so you don't know. For example, they don't calibrate the extrusion multiplier, and the pressure advance calibration has issues for some scenarios.
April 14, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Yes, that's obvious. But at least for now, it's not there.
April 14, 2025 at 7:05 PM
And that's ok, as long as they are honest and open about that.
April 14, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Also, I wanted to add something which I have not seen reported: I am confident they are throttling print upload/download throughput for users on old firmware and/or not using Bambu Studio. It's very noticeable even on small prints.

I agree, but it's disheartening. There is no equivalent to the OrcaSlicer calibration tools, which I love. But then I realized they don't want you calibrating for filament; they are for point and click users. Ok as a goal, but in reality calibration is still necessary for best results.
April 14, 2025 at 6:43 PM
The only thing I didn't like about that interview was that he didn't push Tao more on the way they broke Orcaslicer integration. Kudos to him for bringing it up, but I would have come right out and asked him if he will work to restore Orcaslicer integration.
