At @mothersuncovered.bsky.social
we’ve supported around 3000 women since 2008, helping them deal with loneliness, anxiety & isolation with peer-led groups using art and writing.
Many have experienced #birthtrauma and are on long #NHS waiting lists to get the care they need.

You can be at any stage of #motherhood, it’s not just for first-time #mums.
Babies of up to 15 months can be brought to the session. Our first session yesterday was over subscribed, showing how needed this is. #matrescence #maternalmentalhealth #birthtrauma To book www.happity.co.uk/mothers-unco...

A traumatic birth means her transition into motherhood (#matrescence) is that much harder.
We are running three sessions for #mothers to come together to share their stories. Led by our peer supporters, these sessions are suitable for whatever birth you’ve had. Sometimes you just need to process.

After birth, #mothers may be suffering physical as well as emotional pain.
All these feelings are valid. #Birthtrauma has been in the news a lot recently. It’s something we at #MothersUncovered are well aware of. A traumatic birth can impact a #mother for a long time…

The assumption is often erroneously made that #mothers of more than one child have ‘got the hang of it’.

Really important this is being highlighted. 👏
Would like to see more media attention being given to NOT first-time mothers (like Sophie): if help is being seen to be needed, focus nearly always goes to first-time mothers (and from families/friends). #matrescence

I can’t help but feel like so many of us as mothers were set up for failure because of generational trauma, horrifying world events, economic hardship, and chronic toxic stress in general.

We were thrown in the deep end of the pool with no floatation device. /3
