Dear Archivists, In June of 2020, Project Midsummer was started. Project Midsummer came from from one creative’s desire to bridge their love of story-telling, technology, acting, and puppetry together as a fun side project, all spurned on by the VTuber Boom. Their main goal was to tell a story in real time about a character the audience got to know personally, similar to an ARG or the then budding Unfiction genre. After a full year in development, on August 18, 2021, Mote D’Archive was born. Mote’s career has been shaky from the start, faced with setbacks and creative burnout. But the team continued on in belief that, eventually, they could tell the story they wanted to tell. However, in 2025, it became clear to the two-person team that made up Project Midsummer that they just do not have the money or resources to do so. It is with heavy hearts we announce that this phase of Project Midsummer is coming to a close. This is NOT a graduation, however! Instead, Project Midsummer will be scaling back and retooling with a new character to accommodate a smaller story and budget! The fairy librarian may be coming to an end, but her spirit will still live on under a different concept! Please look forward to what we have in store in the coming months.
