Why do we waste our time thinking about Marx? Our understanding of economics has progressed tremendously since he was alive.

Moreover, we have the evidence of experience: the best way to organise society is a liberal democracy with a good mix of markets and government intervention.

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that the key to becoming a good reader is to do lots of it.

I.e. kids need to spend lots of time reading whatever it is that they love reading.

.... my experience as an Australian Teacher is that a lot of students struggle to read. It takes more effort than it should.

Argh. As a teacher who used to work in government policy, curricula are heavily shaped by politics and people's philosophical prejudices.

I put it to you sir, that the very fact that you, a member of the public, are aware of the curriculum is a bad thing.

But I do very much agree....

My father worked for a phone company from the late 60s to around 2010. He was saying the other day how he couldn't have imagined a world where people were not directly charged for phone calls.
