i've got the same thirty gb folder in no less than six locations because i lack the temerity to go and deduplicate it without ending up with seven copies instead
December 7, 2025 at 11:35 PM
for this i'd recommend just using google photos (or inmich, for the very technical user) as the whole deduplicating file backups by hand thing is endless pain once you're in that situation whatever os you're using

according to the article that is permissible if you do not wear headphones and do it in a bawdy manner

i think they both reflect important truths

nimbys see the fait accompli approach when councils do things and see their only option is to obstruct

yimbys see nimbys as blocking all plans to improve an area and see their only option is to aggressively assent

it's a mess
December 6, 2025 at 8:59 AM
mimby meaning maybe?
December 6, 2025 at 8:47 AM
participatory democracy aside, if beckenham was anything to go by then the council had earnt themselves a nimbyish overcorrection
December 6, 2025 at 8:39 AM
living by Beckenham Place park and having a friend on the Bromley side, it was clear that the council had a fairly good idea of what residents thought of the level of disruption events, and keeping the park set up for them between events caused local residents for a pretty long time

the combination of the popularity, closeness to subject, ownership and use of a homoglyph is absolutely screaming "notice me regulators"

i think the problem of far right radicalisation and its manifestation of racism is incredibly unlikely to be solved by the good old "just talk to racists to instantly deradicalise them"

he would have made a truly fantastic prime minister

now imagine how much better the economy would have to be doing to meet that level of savings in your twenties if you had to also cover your own outgoings...
November 29, 2025 at 10:36 AM
twentysomethings having a couple of hundred pounds a month to invest in index funds would be a pretty good indicator that the economy is going absolutely fantastic
November 29, 2025 at 10:23 AM
these are both also good explaining factors of why young people don't have all that much long term investing confidence
