Gonna call this a success! Love the satisfying texture of the grog on the bare clay 💕

I recently bought some rainbow-colored grog to try mixing into porcelain for a confetti look — this is my first trial run of that after bisqueing ☺️ the clay looks tan in the picture because it’s wet (I just gave it a quick sanding), but it should fire white. So excited to see how this turns out!

Just realized I never shared this Halloween-y arrangement from last week’s class! It’s my first water-reflecting style moribana ☺️
I’ve had it on my dining table for a week, but this morning I harvested the petals and fruit to see if they’ll make a nice natural dye 🤞

New mug! This glaze texture is so satisfying 🤩

Itty bitty American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) I plucked on a walk the other day, vs. Fuyu persimmon from the grocery store — look how cute and perfect and little, it’s like the grocery store persimmon has a mini-me 🥹 I am such a sucker for tiny things.

Ikebana class is back 🌟
All of these materials are from my front yard, so this is almost like a little snapshot of early October in Portland ☺️ I love using my peony leaves this time of year!

Glaze experiment before and after 😄
I did this one by pulling up 4 glazes in one 50ml syringe, wetting the plate to slow absorption, then emptying the syringe onto the plate and swirling it around like an acrylic pour painting. I think it turned out neat!

Newest mug, and maybe my favorite yet ☺️
The apple is painted with Mayco Stroke n’ Coat 🎨

My two favorites from the last batch of glaze tests — a new wax resist pattern, and some neat crystally glaze interaction from Mayco Himalayan Salt, Black Walnut, and Green Tea 💕

Last class’s ikebana arrangement (and the last one for a while probably!)
It’s another slanting moribana, with snowberry, pompom dahlia, and pink lace flower 🌼

Social media vs. real life 😂

No idea how this cup turned out SO warped, but I’m happy with how my little stroke n’ coat experiment turned out on the rainier cherries!

Finished my sewing project just in time for the Thorns game this morning! Bummed about the loss, but on the other hand — that Croix/Trinity masterpiece?? Nah you deserved that one Spirit, we’ll take the next one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Arrangement from class today with materials from my yard — actually I brought a third material as well but didn’t end up using it! I like that my hydrangea has flowerheads in a bunch of different stages right now (new, full bloom, fading…) and wanted to really showcase that ☺️

A slanting moribana from ikebana class today — I always have a hard time with this style! I think I’m getting better at it though 😅

Climbing rose and hosta leaves (from my yard) and feverfew (from the grocery store 😂)

Looooove this teapot that just came out of the kiln 😍 I found the branch I’m using as the handle on a beach in Japan earlier this year, and made the teapot especially to suit it 🥰

The teapot is thrown, but altered in a kurinuki-inspired way!

Shoutout Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad — we had a great time on their evening train yesterday! So fun 😄

So in love with the materials for today’s ikebana arrangement — perfectly summery, and the little tendrils in the sweet pea are so cute they make me want to cry 🥲

This is an upright moribana with coneflower, sweet pea, and lace cap hydrangea!

Oh I also have this one, which is lavender mist and textured turquoise on honey flux! Can’t remember the clay, but some type of buff stoneware
July 2, 2025 at 9:03 PM
I think this planter base is the best example of the difference because I used honey flux on the outside and blossom flux on this inside! Both were used as the bottom layer, with textured turquoise on top and a bit of capri blue on the rim.

New mug for Mugshot Monday — the overall feeling reminds me a bit of grape bubblegum 🍇 😋

Some days ikebana is easy and your teacher hardly makes any corrections at all; other days she has to fix the arrangement completely… this was definitely in the latter category so I can’t take full credit for this one 😅

So cute!! A random other idea: any chance you’d consider adding a piece of fabric on the outside for slotting onto a rolly bag for the airport??

I made a mug featuring my favorite chicken boy, @unicouniuni3.bsky.social 🥹 this is really gonna up the joy level of tea time I think 🥰🥰

Mug made by my husband, weird daffodil lid/teabag-holder-thing by me 🥲

A big ol’ walking mushroom mug (my favorite Delicious in Dungeon character!)

Also shoutout @littleguys3d.bsky.social for the tiny dog in the background — he’s been motivating me to go on daily walks ☺️
