...... tldr, sci fi stories w/ oppressive elements are really cool to play with and i love them a lot :) especially using a character inspired by yg as the mc/focal point; brings a unique emotional perspective to the whole thing

living was like before it was carved into perfect mundane pieces and gross space food. there's a kind of grief in that loss of actual "reality" to the neat lines of organized bureaucracy that can't really be fixed, though you do your best to find happiness where you can.

be called "common," or for food to be so utterly bland and manufactured that most characters no longer have a conceptual understanding of "meals" anymore, let alone people to eat them with.

ah, thank you! i'm glad that you liked the excerpt and its gross slimey sci-fi food :) i read a forum post yrs ago that discussed how (paraphrasing) oppressive atmospheres/societal structures seep into life at every scale, including, for example, the violence it takes to have a story's main language
