As my Spring Break comes to a close I wanted to share some pictures of the four states I was able to visit as my son was visiting potential colleges: WA, OR, ID, MT Pictures don’t do it justice it was very beautiful country.

We are wrapping up our groups that settled the west unit. Students have written post cards as Forty-Niners. Created advertisements for Homesteaders to settle in Western NE. They are wrapping up their Funko Pop creations this week.

Well that was fun. 90 mph + winds. I don’t see any major damage with our house but a lot of tree damage around me. We have lost power but watching @KETV on my phone to keep updated.

Stopped by (reallly close to our house) a local farmer whose son has a fresh flowers and produce cut yourself operation called Green Deans.

Lots of flowers and a pretty afternoon to spend with my wife and daughter.

Love going to some place different each time we go to Chicago. Went to a few different neighborhoods and love the unique culture each being’s forth.

Really enjoyed the Architecture Boat Tour. It was a great way to see the buildings, learn some history of the city, and see the change of the landscape.

Another Summer Reading book down. Really enjoy Erik Larson’s narrative storytelling and this book was a fun and interesting read. I’ve been to Fort Sumter many years ago and would love to go back some day.

During spring break we were visiting a bookstore in Boulder and my family picked this book up for me. Just finished The House of Lincoln by Nancy Horan & it was a great read. It covers so much history of Springfield and the community that the Lincoln’s called home.

Spring Break Trip to Colorado. Our son wanted to check out two colleges and tour their campus. We thought we would take the time to also enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park. Glad to be back home but enjoyed the time together.

Ready for our review of Johnson and Reconstruction tomorrow. Students have watched an EdPuzzle to get an overview and tomorrow we are going to dissect this Nast Political Carton. Focusing on 4 parts has been my fav on image analysis.

So another book finished for my 2024 Book Challenge. I did really enjoy this book. It’s a very different read the Killers of the Flower Moon, but enjoyed this look at the British Navy in the 1700s. This has also contributed to my renewed interest listening to Sea Shanties.

Today we talked about how much President Lincoln aged during the war. Then I was asked by a student if I was alive when Lincoln was President. 😂

Okay…book #2 completed for my 2024 Reading Challenge. Been on my list for a while. A great comprehensive look at the Reconstruction Amendments (13-15). Very timely since I will be starting road to Civil War on Monday and the 14th has been in the news lately.

Wow! Just finished The Boys In The Boat. Such a powerful book that had me cheering as I was finishing it tonight. Great first book of The 2024 Reading Challenge M.I.B.
