I'm so close to being able to harvest my first cucumber (and crop in general)!

Also my elephant garlic is visibly sprouting now.

Starting to get cucumbers. I will pollinate it tomorrow and hopefully I get at least one before the frost kills it off.

I planted a bunch of greens, brassicas, lettuce, beets, radishes, and elephant garlic today.

Within the next 1-2 months I should have a pretty nice variety of greens to munch on. :3

I seem to have done ok. I lost a couple seedlings and cuttings but not from frost damage. Everyone is back outside

No luck on aurora part 2 tonight. Might be faint hints but not worth taking the three hour trip to come up mostly empty handed.

This is probably what the one last year was like had I had a tripod to keep camera stable.
November 13, 2025 at 2:56 AM
My stuff seems to be fine but I'll find out for sure this weekend.
November 12, 2025 at 4:06 PM
It did get cold enough for a frost to happen last night. First frost in multiple years and earliest I can recall living here for 20 years.

Frost damage was light and sporadic, but I could see what got affected.
November 12, 2025 at 4:04 PM
The aurora ended up being visible further south than expected. I live in Central Florida and even I could faintly see it naked eye but I could really see it in long exposure photos.
November 12, 2025 at 6:02 AM
I'm still blown away with what I saw tonight. On the left is the major aurora on May 11, 2024 with shaky 10 second exposure vs. the one tonight at four on a tripod.
November 12, 2025 at 5:37 AM
What was it like to the naked eye?

Closer to this, but much, much dimmer. It was the faintest tint of red. But I could extremely faintly see.
November 12, 2025 at 4:33 AM
Also I couldn't resist a few silly selfies! That last one I was fucking COLD by the end of this.
November 12, 2025 at 4:29 AM
Some incredible long exposure photos from Central FL from the aurora tonight! Just absolutely wild.

I missed out on the last big solar storm but this was vindication!
November 12, 2025 at 4:28 AM
Aurora visible in long exposure even at my tree covered home in Central FL
November 12, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Yeah, in fact I could very faintly see here in Central FL. I'm about to post a bunch of photos but it was a bit dimmer than this in reality.

Stuffing came out great! A little dry and crunchy on the top (I like it, some might not) because I attempted to cook it uncovered, but otherwise it came out about how I wanted.
November 11, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Well it certainly looks the part
November 11, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Yeah here's my frost barometer. No frost last night.
November 11, 2025 at 5:23 PM
I've got all my frost sensitive plants and seedlings on my porch and covered the carrots.

Fingers crossed.

What a year to pick to start gardening lol.

Our average first frost date is around December 15.
November 9, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Uh oh. Our first frost is usually in December. This is way early.

Normally I'm like hell yeah, cold weather. But now that I'm growing plants, I was not anticipating a frost around a month early.

I need to figure out what to do.
