Birder in the vicinity of Redditch on Worcs/Warks border.
The Bittell Snow Bunting. Phew, just got there in time. Thanks to Rob W for message. It disappeared by 15:45 but may have gone to roost. Not seen to fly off.

Crossbill over Morton Bagot this morning. Also one of the ringers, Ischia, mentioned she had rescued a Manx Shearwater from a car park in Droitwich on 18 Sept. Here's a photo of it. I understand it was taken to Vale Wildlife Sanctuary and later released on the Severn #Worcsbirds #Warksbirds

43 of 17 for me last night. A Frosted Orange was a garden tick (but a spider got to it before I did). Nfy were Brown-spot Pinion and Barred Sallow #Redditch #teammoth

Some excitement last night when I finally caught a Red Underwing. 61 of 14 including two nfg and two nfy. Nearly overlooked the other nfg, which was a rather worn Hedge Rustic #teammoth #Redditch

Excellent morning at Morton Bagot patch. Loads of Blackcaps and other warblers in hedgerows. Highlights were 10 k patch year-tick Tree Pipit, plus Garden Warbler, and the long-staying Garganey. Only downside was missing a Spot Fly #PWC25

A Black-tailed Godwit and calling Greenshank were the first at Morton Bagot for a couple of years, while a Whinchat was a welcome additional arrival overnight. #patchbirding

Found a Garganey at Morton Bagot (near Redditch) this morning. Not annual here. #PWC25 #patchbirding

A Great White Egret at Morton Bagot kept up its recent annual single appearance record at the site. Also a 10km Circle year tick, while a Little Grebe on the tiny Kingfisher Pool was the first here since 2021. #pwc2025 #patchbirding

A disappointing tally of 25 of 18 last night. It was a bit cool and moonlit. Nfy were Wax Moth (2nd for garden), Iron Prominent, and a very worn Willow Beauty #teammoth
August 9, 2025 at 6:40 AM
A bit cooler last night so 60 of 28 was a fair return. NFY included Sallow Kitten, Dingy Footman, Rush Veneer (1st since 2022), and Straw Underwing #Redditch #teammoth
August 2, 2025 at 9:17 AM
Still going through last night's catch, but nfg so far are Gypsy Moth, Triple-spotted Nest Moth, Plain Pug, and Gypsonoma minutana (if I've got the id right) #teammoth
July 26, 2025 at 10:02 AM
I think these Pugs are Slender Pug and White-spotted Pug but I would be grateful for a second opinion @mothiduk.bsky.social
July 18, 2025 at 7:30 AM
At least 421 of 78 last night, still working through them. The little ones are doing my head in, and even some of the macros have been tricky. I think nfg in Redditch are Lesser-spotted Pinion, Recurvaria nanella and Argyresthia goedartella #Teammoth

Overnight rain = waders. Got up early and went to Earlswood where found 2 Black-tailed Godwits and a Redshank #Pwc25 #warksbirds

Caught 100 moths of 29 species last night. Nfg was White-line Dart (or Garden Dart), while Shark, and Black Arches and were nfy. #Teammoth
July 5, 2025 at 6:59 AM
I wonder if I can have an identification for this moth. It's either a White-line Dart or a Garden Dart. Obsidentify favours White-line Dart, but it seems to be a very poorly marked one. #ukmothidentification Redditch Warks/Worcs. Its nfg (and a lifer) whichever it is.
