My kitty Rhysie decided to bring in the New Year by climbing the closet door and breaking his toe. Sigh. Happy holidays, here's my vet bill and possibly kitty surgery. He really needs to stop climbing things when I have three cat trees of different heights

Making Polish coffee cake. Test run. I think I need to treat it like tres leches. Instructions for caramel sauce were unclear. But I also let it rise too much & will perfect it! Prob still tastes good regardless. My grandmother was Polish but she never made anything like this

Weekend breakfasts. The crepe/blintz things were a happy accident. I used egg white in place of baking powder in homemade pancakes and added cinnamon and got these amazing concoctions. Garlicked cottage cheese on top and brown sugar syrup from scratch

It's Rhysie's third birthday today. I adopted him 6 months ago from the local rescue, where he'd been returned twice. He's a half Turkish Van who has the brains & energy of the breed with all theiir impulsive goofiness. He bangs cabinets & doors when he wants attention & tries to take showers.

This was a gyro recipe from the Hades Hell's Kitchen fan cookbook project and it was off the charts. Tasted authentic. It requires a sous vide process which I did for 4hrs using a lamb loin roast. Also used plain naan instead of pita and did homemade sweet potato fries.

Made a fancy shrimp scampi dinner tonight. And by fancy I mean discount special shrimp, store brand butter, generic garlic, frozen spinach & basic tri color pasta with olive oil drizzle and Italian seasoning

Found another hand written page where I must have been plotting out the synopsis of the book. So much of this just never made it into that story. Sometimes seeing things plot points on paper is more beneficial to me as I get a better perspective of what needs to be rearranged or cut
