It’s not the same thing, but twitter lets you block and mute people you don’t like, but it never avoided those behaviors. Don’t get me wrong, I think BS has much more potential on that matter, but yet I’m concerned about that. Twitter kind of destroyed my mental health

I’m not saying we need them to thrive. I’m saying that if this app thrives without them (and I think it will), eventually they will join as well. I’m just trying to discuss what we can do to avoid the same behavior. The federation is a good start, indeed, but I’m not convinced it’s a silver bullet

My question is: the people here were previously on twitter. The platform is very similar in general. If Bluesky thrives, every toxic person from twitter will come along. How can we prevent the same outcome?

The thing is that twitter has always been a toxic place. It got worse recently, for sure, but it’s never been a bed of roses, and I don’t think it’s the platform’s fault. It’s just a reflection of the society we live in
