This research from @arvind.bsky.social's lab is right down my alley, in terms of exploring the medium of data visualization, and what happens between the lines:

The eplusm scale is an interesting take on the old log-scale chestnut. It is logarithmic for the landmark steps (1, 10, 100), but linear in between. Crazy idea, but according to user studies, it seems to work pretty well in some settings! github.com/jdfekete/d3-...

Svelte or not — the bar layout is done with HTML+CSS, so things like this can happen when the container is too small and the labels have fixed widths. (Of course, I only know this because I made this mistake myself already a bunch of times 😁)

Enjoying @nadiehbremer.com's CHART (and the sun 😁). It's a great book — Nadieh's work is amazing anyways, and I love how generously she shares her tricks and recipes. www.routledge.com/CHART-Design...

Much looking forward to the 10th edition of the Bremen Dataviz Meetup—Tue Dec 03!
Our guest @tduscher.bsky.social does stunning work in the #scicomm #sciencecommunication space and I am really looking forward to hearing what he will tell us about design research on the topic of aesthetic pleasure!
