Always at the limit, somewhere between Software, Hardware and Daycare.

Stuttgart/0711.
Also we’re back from Paris, that city just blows my mind every single time.

Pretty happy with the new connection board design that finally cleans up the backside of the displays.

Interestingly I’m spending most time on stuff that I would have never thought I’d spend a lot of time on - but cable management is really a big topic, especially with 5+ displays.

I admit, that was a tad more complicated than originally thought. But I can now swap flaps and have a fully working gantry.

Nothing better than a fresh delivery from JLCPCB in the morning.

Sidequest Update: I now have a somewhat working x/y/z gantry. Out of some misguided sense for adventures, I designed all parts myself. That was more work than expected, but also more fun.

They said thank you.

Playing around with taking "nice" pictures of my displays. What do you think?

No, they’re not, but it’s a very new message.

3D printing solder paste stencils works actually quite well. The only tricky part is super small pitch (QFN28), but even that is kind of working.

Finished the 1x20, upped my split flap game.

There's some issues (like coloured cables) and not perfectly aligned frames, which is caused by the 3d printing of the frames - but overall, I'm rather very proud of this.

Spent the time between Christmas and new year to finally complete a blender tutorial. That was time super well spent. I made this!

Today it’s all about electronics. Daisy chaining 20 displays finally works with close to no voltage drop.

The other part of the equation is a tiny propagation delay using serial chaining, but that can compensated in software easily.

PSA: you can 3D-print SMD-Stencils. Works like a charm.

Parts placement after two coffees… different story 😀

That’s accurate.

That’s a fried tado thermostat.

I’m not sure exactly how it got fried, but the switching pins are gone and the contacts on the PCB don’t have continuity.

Today was a lot of prototyping, and some of it was fun. This part here wasn’t, since i put the stock the wrong way around in and milled the wrong side. Happens.
