sherlock holmes! also irene and her husband. and ofc, the spectre of moriarty.

this isn't any kind of adaption of the novel canon, this is like....a gritty little crime drama I've been kicking around in my notebooks that starts during watson's honeymoon

Got permission to post this; one of the trans women who was assaulted last week by a gang of anti-trans creeps has a gofundme up to help her with medical and survival costs while she recovers from a concussion. If you're able to help, please do.

I canceled my NYT subscription years ago (during the first Trump admin, how fun to be back here), but I got this in my inbox with a sanctimonious email basically as long at the piece itself. I loved Barnard. It has broken my heart over the past two years.

What a disgrace you are, Laura Rosenbury.
Jesus christ. The president of Barnard College wrote this opinion piece in the NYT today. It contains this paragraph. I'm a Barnard alum. Genuinely sickened.

The misleading framing in the text lies conflating “debate” with targeted harassment campaigns, personal attacks on people with “ideas” one finds “offensive.” (Though to be fair, the Barnard President probably does consider minorities to be “ideas” not real people)
The President of Barnard College calls for more controversial speakers like the late Kirk (without citing any of his controversial views), a position at odds with what Barnard colleagues describe as a track record of censoring events and speakers on Palestine. (1/4) www.nytimes.com/2025/09/17/o...

this is fascism and white supremacy. it softens white supremacy so people forget the ugliness and harm it creates so it becomes more and more permissible. Do not let them do this. Hold everyone accountable.
