Having spent time in a third party, under the current system it's (marginally?) easier to have an effect from the inside than outside. At least until we get IRV/RCV.

"Easier"? Has this guy ever actually participated in a third party in this country over the last several decades? IMO internal has a better chance of succeeding.

Long term, we need instant-runoff / ranked choice voting. But we need to put out the fire before we can build a better fireplace.

I was in a 3rd party for a while some decades back and left because it felt like all we were doing was having monthly bitch sessions. At least as a registered Dem I can vote in primaries (which around here are often the real election).
