I stumbled across this trunk while walking; I found its curved edges beautiful, and with each detail I drew, I felt as if I was reading the story of the tree, the land, and its textures and shapes. This will be in the cover of a short story compilation by my partner Mario D. Rossy 💚 #illustration

Building in squarespace sucks. The name serves them right, it’s so limited it’s hard to do anything.

Needed to vent… also, if you’re a designer, avoid it.

I believe conservation starts at our heart. To cultivate empathy and connection. Art is always a great way to reach to people, specially kids. Highlighting with visual language the beauty that is already there #scientificillustration #conservationpublication #butterflies

I’m captivated by the MANGROVE FORESTS. Resilient ecosystems and natural protectors against hurricanes and other calamities. 🌿🌬️
I can’t help but imagine the innovations they could inspire groundbreaking design.

70% of amphibian species are in decline due to atmospheric changes, pollutants, habitat loss, and invasive species. What if amphibians could temporarily grow a shell to survive extreme weather or disease? Would aesthetics change how we view and protect them in conservation?

The Green Ages sounds like a book for me:
“The Franciscans, with their commitment to radical poverty, are one of the case studies chosen by Annette Kehnel in The Green Ages as an example of ‘medieval innovations in sustainability’.”
'Many of the case studies Kehnel puts forward are attractively described, and it is refreshing to see such a positive argument about what can be learned from premodern ways of living'

A great review of #TheGreenAges by Annette Kehnel in History Today 🌿

I’m reading up on books with these themes. As research for an upcoming online magazine launch.

This one is “a reflection on the role of art in the interconnected struggles for climate and ecological justice.”

So far a great read!

Any more recommendations?

How might evolution reshape the bonds between organisms and their environments?

how much of an organism can be shaped by its surroundings?

This is a simplified version of the build up process to make a final image, It’s a time consuming process, to get the shapes, lighting, angles, colors and textures. It helps to have a clear initial idea and develop from there.

Flowers and butterflies are often seen as fragile. Their true strength lies in their adaptability to their surroundings, as they thrive in unison.

Does this fragility reflect weakness, or resilience?

The visual beauty in nature is so evident, whats more precious is the relationships that resulted in that. The mutual relationships of flowers and insects for example, perfectly balanced #nature #wildlife #pollinators #natureart #speculativeart #ecologies #symbiosis

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky

What if flowers and butterflies never formed their bond? 🌸🦋
Without pollinators, would the Earth be unrecognizable?

These are the first 3 in a series of 100 hybrid organisms I’m creating—AI textures inspired by nature’s fragile connections.
