Has the election been called? I can’t find anything definitive yet, only that she is up by something like 1400 votes

Fantastic work. Thanks for sharing the details.

Alas it didn’t work for me. What was the most surprising part for you, given all you already know?

I don’t think we have the luxury of waiting to primary them. We need to demand Schumer and Durbin’s outser by all those who voted “no.” If that fails, I really think we need to create another party—an idea I hate, but I don’t think we can cleanse fast enough to save democracy.

Please lead the way to oust Schumer. There’s very little hope of doing what you are rightly calling for with the current Dem leadership.

If you really want to show how much you oppose this, demand Schumer step down as Minority Leader. Otherwise it looks like an orchestrated effort that is broadly supported by Senate Dems. Talk is cheap!

Can we demand Schumer step down as Senate Minority leader? That’s a protest with a very specific ask that might get some publicity

Which ones are finally talking about it? I haven’t seen it yet

I could do this. I write both nonfiction and fiction, but would need someone like you to talk me through what effects would realistically take place when and the impact of that on day-to-day life. Happy to give it a try!

The other problem is that most history classes, if they mention Pinochet at all, don’t describe what life is like under a modern authoritarian. You can tell people to think Pinochet, but that won’t mean anything, even if they can name the country and timeframe (calling myself out here)

Also, and @weatherwest.bsky.social can correct if I’m wrong, but when we talk about exceeding 2.5, that’s an average over several yrs (I think 15?), not a single yr exceeding that threshold. If the number is right, then a 15 year average between 2.5-3C happening in 75 yrs seems about right.
