As someone who took a break from gaming after the ps2 and came back much later, some of this connectivity aspect feels inherently invasive, regardless of the game. No I did not want to know my friend is playing rayman origins!

To be fair that is a dig people use a lot for other mediums too, even more frequently than in games in my experience. LOTR for books and any Christopher Nolan movie get that sort of condescension quite often
