I have used Duolingo on and off in my studies and I don’t think it will ever be substantial for getting you to fluency, at least not from English to Japanese.

This has been the only way learning kanji has worked for me! If I learn it in context it makes much more sense, and sticks with me way easier! We seem to have similar experiences in our studies. 😆

I feel like in my case I burnt myself out mastering hiragana trying to cram it for class, and then got lazy when it felt like I had to do it all over again from the start.

I follow Miku on instagram, and have been considering her shadowing course! I’ve heard that shadowing is one of the best ways to improve both listening and speaking. 🔥

I studied Japanese 1 and 2 online during my bachelor’s degree, but I’m still a beginner. After a year and a half away, I feel like I’ve forgotten so much!
I’m most comfortable with hiragana too. This year, I’m focusing on improving speaking and mastering katakana! 📚🙇♀️
