In October, Star Mountain Rehabilitation Center celebrated Palestinian Heritage Day. Children wore traditional clothing, sang folk songs, and danced. The director shared, “Culture gives us a sense of belonging and makes us feel safe.”

In October, Star Mountain Rehabilitation Center celebrated Palestinian Heritage Day. Children wore traditional clothing, sang folk songs, and danced. The director shared, “Culture gives us a sense of belonging and makes us feel safe.”

After Typhoon Halong hit Alaska, damage from wind and flooding was widespread. Hundreds of people from small villages were evacuated to Bethel and Anchorage, where Moravian facilities like Bethel Moravian Church and the Moravian Seminary helped them find comfort.

We are humbled to share that the matching challenge issued by London Moravian Church in Cambridge, Wisconsin, has been met in less than 30 days! Since the challenge was announced, we have received over $30,000 in donations to our Moravian Disaster Response fund.

We are humbled to share that the matching challenge issued by London Moravian Church in Cambridge, Wisconsin, has been met in less than 30 days! Since the challenge was announced, we have received over $30,000 in donations to our Moravian Disaster Response fund.
Soon after Hurricane Helene hit NC, a group from Clemmons Moravian adopted a flooded home. With support from MDR, a rebuild was finished this summer. A house blessing was held and Phyllis, the home’s resident, was moved to tears as she finally relaxed in her new home.

The BWM has received a second, more detailed report from the Provincial Board of the Moravian Church, Jamaica and Cayman Islands Province (MCJCI) about the needs following Hurricane Melissa. The extent of the destruction is becoming clearer as assessments are conducted in more communities.

Jamaica was devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The Provincial Board shared an estimated $1.6 million in damage to church property. In the same report, they shared a recovery plan and titled the first step, "Community Healing and Thanksgiving." What incredible hope.

The BWM continues to receive reports from Jamaica following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. Damage, power outages, and loss of water and cell service are widespread, with the western side of the island—particularly St. Elizabeth Parish—suffering the most significant devastation.

The Board of World Mission is closely monitoring the wake and path of Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm on Tuesday, October 28th. Initial forecasts and reports indicate that this is a storm of historic proportions capable of severe, widespread damage.

At Star Mountain Rehabilitation Center near Ramallah, Palestine, students, teachers, and trainees gathered to celebrate Heritage Day earlier this month. Children and young people wore traditional Palestinian clothing, sang familiar songs, and shared in the joy of their cultural traditions.

Earlier this month, the Moravian Church in Brazil celebrated Children’s Day with kids from their community. The day was filled with joy! Church leaders shared games, songs, prayer, and preaching. Several mothers also joined the celebration and were deeply moved by the fellowship shared that day.
