I'm probably listening to video game music.
This incredible cartography on a map of the US by Imus Geographics.

One of the first gifts my wife got me back when we were dating.

Semisolid platforms are not negligible to implement.

Working on allowing characters to walk & jump through, then land & stay on top. The challenge is compounded when there are multiple levels of platforms, standing on one and trying to walk through a slightly higher one.

#VideoGameBacklog "Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore" (Switch, 2024) is an amazing homage and spiritual successor to the awful CD-I Zelda games. The animation, voice, and characters are as bad as they should be, but the game is not just playable...it's fun! Thanks @seth.games & @limitedrungames.com!

Since I played/can play Final Fantasy VII on PC, I would have to choose Parasite Eve!

#VideoGameBacklog "The Mr. Rabbit Magic Show" (PC, 2025) is a short, point-and-click escape-the-room puzzle game by @rustylake.com to celebrate their 10-year anniversary. It's free, weird, and fun. #indiegames

A few years ago, when I was having trouble deciding which game to play next, I chose to document all games I had a license for in a spreadsheet and begin tackling my backlog in alphabetical order. This became the #VideoGameBacklog project.

#VideoGameBacklog "ΔV: Rings of Saturn" is a space mining sim by Kodera where you collect ore from within the ring field. It has good physics & autopilot mechanics (once you get used to them) yet it's still a little tricky to get those buggers in. #indiegaming

#VideoGameBacklog "Zombie Night Terror" (PC, 2016) is: what if Lemmings but you're spreading a zombie apocalypse instead helping cute creatures get home? I want to like this game by NoClip. The level designs and actions are interesting, but it gets frustratingly tough quickly. #indiegames

Waiting for the end.

#VideoGameBacklog "Yooka-Laylee" (PC, 2017) is a well-known action platformer from former Rare folk, and for good reason! The characters, models, scenery, and controls are spot on. Worth a romp if you have it.

#VideoGameBacklog "Yesterday" (PC, 2012) is a P&C adventure with unique animation and quite a dark story involving alchemy, Satanism, reincarnation, and other creepy topics & locations. Worth starting if you enjoy the genre! #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "What Remains of Edith Finch" (PC, 2017) is a walking simulator by genre but an extremely artistic story in reality. The game is short and dark, as if Edward Gorey created a 3D visual novel, and is worth at least one playthrough. #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "Yoku's Island Express" (PC, 2018) is an adorable mix of platforming, exploration, and pinball! This is a gem from Villa Gorilla and you should play it for the art, music, design, characters...and pinball.
Roll your ball to victory, little Dung Beetle! #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "X-Morph: Defense" (PC, 2017) is a tower defense game but you also control a highly maneuverable alien craft. Building/strategy and attack waves are separate, but you fight & can build during the wave. Art is pretty good and, overall, it's a fun take on the genre. #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "Wonder Boy" (PC, 2017) is a beautiful remake of an old Sega platform adventure…but level design, attacking, and collisions are still frustrating. Worth playing for the art & music though, plus, retro toggles for each! #indiegames #retrogames

Purchased! I enjoy it, but at Stage 2 in the Daily, the game froze. Anything you want from my PC?

#VideoGameBacklog "Wizard of Legend" (PC, 2018) is a fast-paced action game with wizardry. Enemies hit hard and, without much healing, grinding feels required from the outset. Arcana cooldowns are a bit tough to gauge in this mostly excellent game. Pixel art and jazz music are amazing! #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "The Witness" (PC, 2016) is an artistic 1st-person environmental puzzle game. The puzzles are interesting but get repetitive. However, the brilliant colors & models of the world provide incentive for progression. There's not much going on, but that's the beauty of it. #indiegames
March 5, 2025 at 12:35 AM
#VideoGameBacklog "Where is my Heart?" (PC, 2014) is a pleasant puzzle platformer. Find hearts & get 3 characters to the exit, switching between them at will. Each has a special ability, like rotating panels, allowing progression. Try it for a casual, interesting, experience 💕 #indiegames

#VideoGameBacklog "Victor Vran" (Xbox, 2017) is an ARPG where the titular character hunts demons while upgrading weapons & magic. The story is fun enough and play control & visuals are pretty good. Vran is voiced by Geralt (Doug Cockle)!

#VideoGameBacklog "West of Dead" (PC, 2020) is a fun action/shooter w/ undead Western themes. Gameplay has novel cover mechanics, art/style complement the theme, roguelite & weapon mechanics work, & it strikes a balance btw enemy volume & speed. Worth a shot! #indiegames
