Small alpaca farm in Southern Maryland. We raise alpaca for handspinners, knitters, weavers, and other fiber artists. Our priority is animal health and well-being for our small herd. We love our floofy critters, and they tolerate us.

Two weeks from shearing and one of these goofballs cannot keep his fleece clean.
All three boys are standing together and facing the camera, looking a bit like you caught them smoking in the bathroom in a 50s movie. Why exactly one alpaca insists on wearing half of the pasture in his fleece, I will never know.

The weather just took a turn for the warmer. With shearing only 4 weeks away, we may be seeing peak floof right now!
Inside a barn stall, three alpaca are eating hay, two are facing the camera, one has his floofy butt to the camera. The black boy in the back has hay hanging out of his mouth, as is his common practice. The brown boy is making strong eye contact.

Farmer’s Log: To avoid getting snowed on, the boys pooped in the threshold of the barn, trapping themselves. This distressed them, so the Alpaca Rescue Unit, Farmer Leah with a poop rake, was dispatched to the scene. Alpaca activities have been normalized. Just another winter day at the minifarm!
