I remember that day so well. I was in 3rd grade, the principal announced it over the intercom. We had a tv in our classroom and our teacher, Mrs. Tanner, turned it on for the news. I’ll never forget seeing her sitting there, tears rolling down her face. An incomprehensible tragedy. 🙏

We have a still-open Steak N Shake just down the street from us, but haven’t been there since pre-pandemic. The burgers and shakes were always good, but I hated the fries. And the idea of a kiosk in lieu of a waitstaff is beyond my tolerance, so I’ll just hang onto the good memories.

I have pretty much retired from holiday meal making as well after nearly 50 years. Next Thursday, our family will be enjoying a day of pizza, football, and fun. And this time, I get to join in! Happy Thanksgiving!
