As for convincing... idk. I can't just put all our generational knowledge into several sentenses and make people learn it. I do share a working solution, but it's up to you (or anyone who reads this) to think about it, maybe to take something from it

putin is just a current face of a monster. While I wish him all the worst, I'd prefer russia to be defeated, its elites and war criminals sentenced by a tribunal, its colonies freed, its nukes taken away, its population treated by psychiatrists.

It doesn't work the way you hope it does. Following their news keep people under the influence of their propaganda. Believing in one thing leads to trusting in another. It's a circle that has to be broken. Same goes for trumpists as they are using the same methods.
