ps: if you were to go with paint . net then make sure to use the free link and not the paid microsoft store one

it depends on what you're using, most other apps have this but for example using getpaint.net, you can just add a layer above whatever artwork and after you've made the watermark just lower that layer's opacity to a point where it's still visible but not overly intrusive on the art!
