So please, folks, if you value having free public and accessible healthcare, if you value education, if you value not wasting money, do not vote for Ford’s conservatives.

This provincial election is costing $189 million dollars because Ford claims he “needs a stronger mandate.” He has a majority government. The last election was not limited to to any specific items he claimed he would do. He is again wasting public money for his own gain.

There are reports that Ford’s party is undercutting public healthcare to fund private and for-profit healthcare. You’ve seen American healthcare bills; we should not be aiming to match that. No one should go in debt or be afraid to seek care for fear of the cost.

Speaking of healthcare, Ontario had the lowest health care spending in 2022-2023 of all provinces. You want to know why wait times are up to see a doctor or in the ER? Because Ford’s party is chronically and purposefully underfunding them.

Ford’s party wanted to get alcohol in corner stores. Nothing wrong with that, but by doing it 1.5 years ahead of a contract end date, this move has cost around $600 million dollars. Pretty sure that money is needed elsewhere (healthcare? Education? Housing crisis?).

The teachers union wanted to go on a legal strike, and Ford’s party decided to create legislation to make their strike illegal; the union walked anyway, and the motion to make it illegal was then repealed, and the strike was fully legal. It was a bullying tactic, plain and simple.
