Unfortunately I took no photos of the black glued hairline but basically I just took the black wefts, put tombow glue like an inch from the edge, cut the edge so it'd look spikey and added gel for definition. Just glued these on the wig with uhu

I just put got2b gel on the ends of the dangly wefts to style them once I cut them to the length and shape I wanted

For the little hairs that go in front I made 4 longer wefts but only put glue on one side so the other end was still loose, I made them bend by heating it up with a straightener and bending it over a comb til it cooled

I pinned these in place but I used uhu glue to glue them in place permanently
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Next i just made little spiked wefts for the front. I used the tombow aqua glue since it dries pretty invisible and just made a bunch of them

Once the entire thing was spiked I just left the sideburns and I used the steamer to push the blonde spikes a little backwards but I was happy with the shape
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
More photos of spikes. The blonde didnt need to be teased because they stayed in shape pretty well with just crimping
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
I started the spiking from the bottom and just grabbed sections and sharpened the points with got2b gel! Luckily at this point the teasing and crimping was the main thing keeping it in the shape
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
It was really important to me that the wig was more in the trimax shape rather than just straight upwards like the 1998 anime
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
I didnt take photos of this but I cut the black down, went back in and teased the black wefts with a hair straightener and teasing brush, and sprayed the teased parts with got2b. After all the teasing was brushed out I steamed only the black part upward and this is when it started having a shape!
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
I crimped the entire wig and sewed in the black wefts upside down for spiking later. It looked a mess at this point lmao

Also instead of venting the lace up the temples i cut out the blonde hair and took a black lace piece from coscraft and sewed it in with some invisible thread
July 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Started by taking a lacefront and cutting out all the back wefts and i airbrushed the base black. I cut the hair instead of removing the wefts because this helped me keep the shape of the actual wig

Restarting this thread because I want to write how I did my vash wig

I dont know how to do build threads. This thing is done now tho

I forgot to update the thread on here but I have the collar installed! It gave me so much grief bc there was a pretty bad collar roll that took some work to get rid of, but im super happy with how its looking now

Guts of the shoulder pads while things are basted together, they're the 1 inch ones from wawak and a sleeve head i made with just some scrap fabric and batting. Vv happy with the shape they give me!
April 22, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Main pieces are sewn together!!! I love the shape sm. The fabric is a deadstock suede twill I found and I'm in love with it

Also ignore earlier in the thread when I said I added 2 inches of ease to the sleeve cap I meant only 1 inch

Should've probably said that I'm working on the 98 version vash lmao
April 12, 2025 at 8:11 PM
I also found this tip on reddit for patterning for shoulder pads
April 12, 2025 at 7:29 PM
Ive had this book for years and it's a huge help when it comes to pattern making!!

Started interfacing the top part because that's gonna need the structure, and added interfacing along the open sides and bottom hem to make sure they don't get wavy. I want to make sure the bottom half stays flowy so used the strategically placed interfacing
