Yeah, they're kind of fun, but they made too many of them (obviously not a new thing Hollywood just started!). I think this one is my favorite because it has Judy Garland and a very young Lana Turner.

He was excellent as Hermann Göring, playing him as both charming and manipulative (which apparently he was in real life).

I really liked it. Solid historical drama. Very well acted. And it told a part of the story that isn't very well-known.

Love Finds Andy Hardy has always been my favorite of the series. Not only does it have Judy Garland, but a very young Lana Turner!

Andy Hardy was on Family Movie Classics on Monday. PT 109 was part of the Movies! Veterans Day marathon, so I caught that in the afternoon and watched They Were Expendable after supper. I think i t's my favorite of the John Wayne war movies (although he only gets 2nd billing). Also PT boats! ⬇️

It's gotten pretty good critical reviews for the most part, but it has a 95% verified audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Of course this is something people aren't likely to go see unless they're inclined to this sort of thing, but that's still really impressive.

If I make it through the next couple of weeks I'll have put in 68 of them. 😲 Born as Sputnik circled the Earth. A true child of the Space Age.

I like to say that Gloria Grahame was never more alluring and Bogart was never more menacing. He plays a washed up screenwriter who is suspected of being a murderer.

I was pleased to found out a few years ago that it's also Eddie Mueller's favorite film noir.

I do love a good film noir. My favorite is In a Lonely Place.

I remember Haystacks! Now that goes way back.

There were also some wrestlers back in the 70s and 80s called The Fabulous Moondogs. 😂

😂

I actually took on the name back in 2016 when I joined Twitter and wanted to be anonymous (so tired of arguing with old friends about Trump). It's fro⬇️m the old Gidget movies. Moondoggie was a surfer played by James Darren. This was my original profile photo. 😂

Accepted. No problem.

For what it's worth, this isn't actually a remake. It's just based on the same Stephen King book. So apparently there are major differences. But several of these online reviewers seem to have been disappointed (expecting more from director Edgar Wright).

Well, Nuremberg has only been in theaters less than a week, so if nobody responds that they've seen it yet I won't be a bit surprised. 🤷‍♂️

I did. I tend to like historical dramas and am particularly interested in WWII and Nazis getting their comeupance. It was very well-acted (especially by Crowe as Hermann Göring). And it told a part of the story that isn't very well known.

I honestly don't remember. I watched three of four of them in a row and one of them just interjected a bit about Keeper. It was one of the well-known YouTube guys. Maybe Stuckman or somebody of that nature.

Her film debut! It's always a little strange seeing her that young.

Patricia Routledge was a wonderful actress. She did a really good detective show called Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, but I've only seen a few episodes.

And of course she was one of the teachers in To Sir, With Love.
November 11, 2025 at 5:11 AM
She certainly goes to great lengths to keep up appearances. 😂

Sometimes I think about Hycacinth when I'm watching Hazel and George's snooty sister Diedre shows up. Hyacinth is way more over the top (and British), but they have a lot in common. 😂
November 11, 2025 at 4:02 AM
That's another good one!

The British have always been willing to center shows around older people (Last of the Summer Wine, for instance). Here it seems every show needs sex appeal. Probably says something about the American psyche. 😂
