Adulterated food from economic fraud is a real concern. Melanine was used to artificially show Chinese milk and infant formula as higher quality, and caused kidney stones and kidney disease in infants in 2008. Same chemical which also killed and injured so many pets from contaminated pet treats.

As a teen, I read and re-read his work. He was the only author I’d found who portrayed the world’s surreal, bizarre side. I tried to synchronize my cycle to a lightbulb and still think of him every time I drive past Summit Lake Grocery.
