Sara Bareilles’s eulogy for Gavin Creel today, in which she shared her tarot reading, reminded me: The day he passed, I asked the cards, What do you have to tell me on this sad day? Card that I drew was The Magician. A card of capability, willpower, and magic. Perfect embodiment of Gavin.

Gavin Creel’s memorial service was today. His performances made a huge impact on me over the years. One of his teachers and friends shared a mantra that he had encouraged her to recite: “I am beautiful. I am powerful. I am enough. I will do my best.” A message for us all in these fractured times.💔❤️‍🩹

Refuse to cooperate with anyone who is stealing your freedom, your personal and civil liberties, and then smirking about it. I’m not going to name names.

What a ride! After the Target-exclusive Taylor items didn’t drop at midnight, I set an alarm for 2:45 AM (shortly before midnight PST) and secured the bag. Was really only planning on the Anthology vinyl, but why not add the book?! I can’t wait to listen to “The Black Dog”! #taylorswift #target

Kinda crazy how half of America is currently living inside the lyric, “It couldn’t happen here in Oz…”

At the moment, I’m holding space for the way Cynthia Erivo sings “lithe limb” in “I’m Not that Girl.”

It’s kind of funny to me how MSNBC/CNN are freaking out at the short-term loss of liberal viewers. I think we all just need a little break. I for one am trying to soak up all the normalcy and simplicity of the waning Biden days before the shitstorm. The time for panic-watching Rachel will come.

Picked up Alex Trebek’s The Answer Is… from the local Little Free Library, and the back cover had this inspirational message for dark times:
“I believe in the will to live.
I believe in the power of positivity.
I believe in optimism.
I believe in hope.”

Had a great time today at Pancake Records here in Astoria, celebrating the release of the Wicked soundtrack with my pal Durra and a room full of fellow superfans! Got a free poster, tote bag, and slipmat.

@aoc.bsky.social I want to know if AOC has seen Wicked yet and, if so, what her thoughts were about its political relevance to today.

The far right tries to frame trans lives as “issues” that are up for debate. Those of us who know and love trans people know: Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We cannot, in the difficult years ahead, allow trans people to be dehumanized. We must stand in solidarity with our trans siblings.

Goodbye, X; hello, Bluesky. Was starting to smell too ‘musky’ over there.
