Recently, my Education for Ministry group engaged in a discussion about invisibility. I’m not at liberty to share details surrounding the discussion, but the topic in general has stayed with me, and it seems especially appropriate today. March 31 is Transgender Day of Visibility; a day that exists to raise awareness about transgender and non-binary people. Members of the trans community can almost certainly relate to the idea of invisibility.

Honestly, I don't even know how to start this post; but it feels important, so here goes... I was raised in a household where it was impolite to discuss certain things: politics, religion*, and sex. I'm not sure what my parents' political views were, or even if they voted at all. Not unsurprisingly, this approach had some pretty negative outcomes including being entirely ignorant about politics and religion in adulthood and getting pregnant at 16.

I am an enneagram 9. If you’re familiar with the Enneagram you know, but just in case you’re not here’s a quick rundown. Enneagram 9 is known as The Peacemaker. Generically speaking, our core desire is peace of mind while our core fear is being in conflict and ultimately losing connection. For me specifically, this comes out more as Peacekeeper than Peacemaker.
