Fifteen years ago today I met Monty, my heart. It’s his Gotcha day! Today is also Dia de Muertos for animals in Mexico! Today, allow yourself special time to remember and celebrate the love you have for your own beloved animals that are now in spirit. When you remember with love, they are there. ❤️

Curious botanist that I am, I discovered that the bird that built this nest used what was left in its burned forest home, pulling thin strips of wood from the dry silvery cambium of dead trees, no longer carrying nutrients to the tree, but providing life still, for the family of a wise little bird.

"You can only communicate from trust and love." This is a quote from Pea Horsely, animal communicator. Sometimes, I think about what "trust" means. Maybe it means having confidence that there is beauty everywhere, if we can open our hearts to see it. I found this nest in a burned forest.

I grieve because I miss Monty's physical presence so much. And I rejoice in memories and the magic of our love. On my morning run, taken a thousand times with Monty, but today alone, I rediscover that this moment is enough. And that's when I feel him still with me, listening to the raven's call.
