Have you tried the real Absinthe? Now back on shelves since it is more likely artists went mad because they were drinking moonshine rather than "La Fée Verte" itself. It's far less sweet than pastis, hence the whole sugar spoon ritial. I prefer it without sugar, just 5:1 water/absinthe.

My Dad was at de Havilland where he coveted the Anglepoise 1209s in the drawing office. During modernisation with strip lighting, he made sure he was in the right place to acquire one. I like to think I now change records under the same lampshade that the Mosquito was designed.

An update on the A5000. I checked components and continuity, neutralised and cleaned alkaline residue and fitted a modern 1.2V NiMh on extension wires miles out of harms way. The CMOS remembers what it's told. The whole computer is working superbly well!

This Braun Atelier, bought by my father in 1960, is still going strong after 64 years. It was one of the first stereo radio gramophones on the market. FM radio, though only mono, sounds lovely, still.
