i don't really have a preference when it comes to wxs ships (i think their narrative is very poly coded) so i like all variations, but so much of this was misogyny directed at nene and it feels like it made the writers backpedal on ruinene stuff which is unfortunate...........

people were upset that they were "forcing" a ship bc the song is ruinene/kaimei and the producer is known for using these two virtual singers in romantic songs and the fact that the event is christmas themed which is a romantic holiday in japan didn't help 😭

sucks that this happened bc it robbed us off event songs solos and duets and this would've been more interesting than every commissioned song needing to be the full unit

i don't get how you can claim to love ena as a character and think that she's going to be able to prioritize her art when her friend is actively at risk and isolating, but some people are hyper individualistic and think nobody has any responsibility towards their friends i guess...

satohina's tweet was kind of the tipping point bc some people were already exacerbated by the fact that mizuki was "taking up too much space" in an ena unit focus to the point of being featured in the untrained and wanted the event to be about ena's art which is baffling to me

unfortunately i think there's truth to this... i don't want to generalize ofc bc i don't think it's everyone, but i remember when satohina got harassed for tweeting about the ena5 announcement before minoringo and it got so bad that minoringo ended up speaking against it on the official stream

ena getting duo unit focuses is fun bc she's the niigo character with the most self-contained events, but the two times she got one (ena3, ena5) it was so much about her breaking down her biases around womanhood and victimhood. it's the antithesis of her father's reclusive prodigy artist thing...

also mizuki was the 3* in carnation recollection but still played what i felt was a major part in the event? it's very kanamizu, so i'm hoping that it will be similar this time around as well considering the white & red daisies in the trailer and on the title but i wanna see kanade too...

i see similar complaints about mafuyu when an event is kanamafu centric and it's so scary to me that so many people see vulnerable teenage girls like mizuki and mafuyu at their worst moment and think they haven't "earned" help bc they think they're a burden and see relationships as transactional

people don't take mizuki's problems as a trans girl seriously and there's a lot of revisionism in the fandom when it comes to her relationship with ena wrt this imo bc people straight up forget that ena was victim blamey to mafuyu, was casually cruel to mizuki a lot and drove her into a corner

people are also talking how much they want kanade to be important bc of her 4* and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's like people only suddenly understand that sometimes the writing has to focus on character relationships and not every unit focus can be self-contained when it's not mizuki

it's ironic bc there's a reason the outing scene is put in the shortest episode in the history of the game bc it really reinforces how much of a joke this is for the teenage boys, the casual cruelty of it all... it's handled really well in the game and that's what makes it so frustrating to me.

like, it's not a coincidence that trans girls who get 'discovered' often get beaten up, killed or raped or all of the above, but it would kill fandom to think about the implications and take transmisogyny seriously instead of turning it into a running joke.

i get that mizu5 had so much more buildup and anticipation behind it than any of those events except mafuyu's, but this in itself doesn't explain this kind of response. i also get that laughter can be a way of diffusing tension but it's gone too far and past being appropriate at this point.

they understand the gravity of the situation, understand that it's an important event that serves as a turning point for the character and sympathize with their feelings. i guess people joke about taiga's imaginary dragons song but 1) it really sucks and 2) they still get offended on an's behalf.
